Activities of the Spinal Deformities Unit under Dr. Friedlander’s management:

A veteran unit with extensive experience in treating various comorbidities of the spine in children and adults. The unit advocates a multidisciplinary approach and addresses a variety of pathologies for all spinal pathologies, including inborn and developmental deformities or spinal malformations, diseases caused by spinal tumors, herniated disc, degenerative changes and narrowing of the spine.

As part of a comprehensive approach, the unit conducts cooperative activities in several areas:

  1. Spinal morbidity in children in close collaboration with orthopedic pediatricians, and pediatric rehabilitation.
  2. Spinal tumor diseases in collaboration with the Oncology Institute and the Hemato-oncology Institute
  3. Cooperation with the pain clinic and conservative rehabilitation center.

Treatments and surgical procedures performed by the unit:

  • Scoliosis surgery in children and adolescents
  • Operations on primary and secondary spinal tumors
  • Various degenerative spine surgeries
  • Frontal and rear splints
  • Surgeries for herniated disc, using minimally invasive and open techniques
